Trying to determine the better school in california for business...San Jose state/San diego or cal state LA?
I'm trying to decide between these 3 schools in california, but have little knowledge about cali..any advice? The three schools are 1.) San Jose sate university 2.) San Diego state university 3.) Cal State LA I'm not sure which area would be best for after school/getting a job/using the networking of the school, and i'm open to other schools in california that have an out of state tuition comparable to these schools.

It depends on what kind of business you want to manage. San Jose State University is perfect for the technology and new economy "creative" jobs based in Silicon Valley. San Jose's proximity to San Francisco also means there are networking opportunities for access to the traditional financial markets (stock brokerages, banks, insurance companies). San Diego State University has a business program that's well suited to the biotech research, telecommunications, and defense industries. That's what San Diego does, and it does a very good job of it. CSU Los Angeles is just not a very good school. Physically, it is right in the middle of the East Los Angeles ghetto. It has a really high student attrition rate, and the faculty doesn't seem to produce much research. Besides, everything in L.A. is centered around Hollywood any way, and that's not an industry you can just waltz into with an MBA. It's always an inside job -- with connections to artists/stars being more important than formal education. So, I'd take Los Angeles off the list... and decide between San Jose and San Diego.

If you want to work in Southern California - San Diego State If you want to work in Northern California - San Jose State Avoid Cal State LA..... I would personally recommend any UC school over these if you want to land a good business job after graduation (i.e., UC Irvine, UCLA, UC Berkeley). They are just as affordable.

Well I'd say San Jose state. http://www.cob.sjsu.edu/ But also want to give you an EXCELLENT pointer my Criminal Justice teacher once told me (which turned out to be true)....... If you plan to get educated out of state (ever) keep in mind this one handly little rule that MOST states have.............. It is illegal to charge a student an out of state tuition at more than ONE school. Ergo, you can easily save yourself THOUSANDS by simply registering for an easy - maybe even liesurely class at the local JC of your choice. Once you do that, you can register at (let say University of Arizona (here in Tucson) and BYLAW that cannot charge you out of state tuition fees because you will have already been charged at another school for them (even if you are only taking pottery........) There is your very first lesson in Business - for getting into college. Good luck to you my friend. Oh, and seriously, check out the University out here. It has an EXCELLENT reputation and the campus is gorgeous as well as being in a GREAT central location close to work, food, stores, and living............. http://www.arizona.edu/ Good Luck

Cal State East Bay in the SF Bay area is very good for Business. My coworker who graduated from UC Berkeley, went to CSUEB for his MBA, and said he got a better education from Cal State East Bay than from UC Berkeley, where the professors were never teaching because they had to be writing and publishing. At Berkeley, most of his teachers were the professors' assistants. It is a commuter school, with average student age in the 30's so, it's not a party school. The students are very competitive for grades there. The professors are available in their offices for one on ones.
