The easiest way to do Traffic School is online. My wife did it and it was much easier than sitting in a classroom for 8 hours straight. Doing it online allows you to work at your own pace, starting and stopping as necessary. I think she used this site: http://www.trafficschoolonline.com/ If you really want to actually go to a school, you can contact the San Diego traffic court. I think they have a list of approved schools. See: http://www.sdcourt.ca.gov/portal/page?_pageid=53,130114&_dad=portal&_schema=PORTAL

I want to go to grad school to get my Master's in Secondary Education. Does anyone know of any good schools in San Diego and the surrounding area or even Los Angeles? There is UC San Diego, SDSU...an tons of State schools in between. I wouldn't advise coming to California at the moment, though. The state budget was cut dramatically in the field of education. Tuition is going up and admissions and availability of classes are going down. Plus, if you live out of state, you'll have to pay non resident fees (THOUSANDS of dollars more per semester).

Is every Montessori school in California, especially in San Diego taking in children with disabilities?

Is every Montessori school in California, especially in San Diego taking in children with disabilities?
I would soon be coming to the USA and stay with my son. I wish to put my grandson (age 5) who has some mental instability in a school in San Jose or San Diego. Will a private school or a charter school accept him, or should I put him in a public school? Is every public school required by law or other provisions to take in children with mental disabilities?

My advice is to start with a public school. You don't metion what the disability is, but they are usually the best equipped to handle a wider range of issues. You also don't make it clear if the child is already in the US (in which case he may already be recieving services through the public schools) or if he is coming with you or if he has been in school before. By enrooling in public schools, they will evaluate and asses your grandson's needs. If they find he qualifies, they will be legally bound to provide him the best education in the least restrictive enviroment. Now, that doesn't mean it all comes together right away. They are allowed a limited amount of time to test and then decide on what services he qualifies for and needs. He will then have access to speech therapists, child psychologists and other specialists who have some experience in working with kids with special needs. By law, even the teacher must have some level of training to work have special needs students in her class, but that is not always the case in reality. However, the public school system gives you a legal frame work to get services and federal as well as state laws to back you up when there are problems. Private schools, especially ones that do not specifically deal with special needs students, are not legally bound to provide any extra services or have teachers trained to work with the students. Many schools will accept children with limited special needs, but any additional services such as speech, PT or working with a therapist would have to be paid for by the family. If possible, visit the website for the school districts you are interested in. You can also look for specialized private schools as well as contact other private schools you may wish to consider to find out if they accpet students with needs similar to your grandson's. Email will let you gather a fair amount of information ahead of time from a variety of sources. Get it, organize it and when you finally arrive you can have a list of places you want to visit personally as well as contacts ready to go if you choose the public schools. Good luck and have a safe move.

2
Go with a public school. Private schools probably won't help him. Montessori schools are too unstructured.

The yearbook won't be on the Internet unless some former student scanned it and put it on his/her personal site. There are lots of high-school reunion sites, that cost $29 per year. Your best bet is to look at site for the high school that most of the WW jr. High students went to. If is has a link for Alumni, look there for your friends.

A two bedroom apartment, in nice area, will cost you about $1,800 a month. You can save a lot of money by using public transportation.

2
I lived in SD for a while, paid about $360 a month in Downtown, walked to beach and park, near shopping mall and night life center, everyday I took express bus to La Jolla for 30 min. Like buffet there, for $5, you can eat everything.

3
For a decent place with 1bd/1ba, you are looking to pay about $1000 per month. Of course there are less expensive places but you get pretty much what you pay for. What kind of graduate program are you considering? San Diego has only a few universities, compared to let's say LA or Orange County, so you may want to look into the schools first.

4
Unless you already live somewhere expensive in CA, it will be anything but cheaper. Good luck to you!

5
Tom C, must have lived in San Diego , Texas!? nothing downtown will only cost $300 something unless it's a cardboard box. I would look into the school first and then go from there. Many times you can live with another grad student.

6
Nothing in San Diego is cheap. Like everyone else said you get what you pay for. If you get a decent place, not necessarily nice, just livable it's about $1,000+ if you want to live w/in 20 miles of dtwn from Hillcrest and North like any of the beach areas, like Ocean beach, Mission Bay, Pacific Beach, from downtown up or La jolla (which is nice, but will run you more that $1,000 a month)Mission Valley, Kearny Mesa, Tierrasanta, Claremont, ummm...aren't right on the beach or anything, but definately livable, nicer than some parts of San Diego. I live in Mission Valley which is Central San Diego and love it here. It's located next to all the main freeways, 15 min. from downtown and the beaches and lots of shopping and grocery and what not all located here. Reasonably priced I guess, if that's possible in San Diego. We are renting a condo from a friend for $800 a month....yeah.....we got lucky tho, again, renting from a friend, letting us off easy cause I'm in school. So normally our place would go for around $1200 month, which I would say is pretty standard for the area. If you're looking for something cheaper, but not ghetto fabulous, you're gonna have to go towards east county. Like El Cajon and Santee, and some parts of La mesa (on the North side of the eight) some people will come on here and say those areas are all ghetto, but there are nicer parts. Like for Santee/El cajon off of Hwy 67, an old roommate and I had a NICE apt for $950, it was pretty big, walk in closets and VERY clean, and new. Loved it there, but it was too much of a drive for both of us, it's about 30-40 miles east of downtown, and an annoying drive, especially in traffic. You should probably give us an idea of which schools you are possibly looking at, so we can give you a better idea about location. LA.....ewwww......dirty and full of over-caffinated people. You'd probably be paying about the same as here if not more, and be getting a lot less as far as decentcy goes. No sir, don't like it. Unless you have lots of money or mommy and daddy do, perhaps you should look at living in a state that's more affordable. When I graduate...peace...I'm outta here. So I can buy a house and live like I want to. Moving to Houston, Tx, where I can buy a 4 or 5 bdrm huge house, with an actual yard, (which you learn that most houses out here don't actually have, they say they are yards, but they're small as heck), for under $150,000 and still be by the ocean. It's ridiculous out here as far as buying and renting goes, Such a shame, it's so DAM BEAUTIFUL OUT HERE!!!!!!!!

What are high schools like in California?
Hi, I live in Sydney Australia and am in year ten and considering six months exchange next year in San Diego, California. Can anyone (preferably teens and students or their parents) tell me what the local high school/s are like, eg. when terms begin and end, whats the deal with cafeterias, etc? Just because I wont be going with an exchange program I'd be staying with family. Any details are appreciated, I'm curious! Thanks!

I went to Poway High School in california, in san diego county. The semester starts and ends the same time as any other school in the country, the exact day might be a little different but they all start sometime in september and end some time in late may/early july. From what I've seen there usually aren't cafeterias per se in high schools. they usually have lunch carts that you can buy overpriced crappy food from (at least that's how it was at my school and all the others in my district). The school's really aren't that great in California. I'd seriously consider going there to study if you really want to learn anything. If you're just going for the experience, well, you will definitely get to experience the superficial, shallow american lifestyle in California. But be prepared to not learn anything, I know I didn't learn a goddamned thing in high school, and I passed with a 3.2 average. Basically, those schools are designed so even the retarded kids can pass the same classes as everyone else (i.e. they dumb down all the class so the stupid kids can pass).
